that the Muscovites introduced a counter-terrorist operation regime in the regions bordering Ukraine. It turns out that they are taking over our experience with the "anti-terrorist operation" in Donbas. But why "counter-terrorist operation" and not "martial law"?
And because the power in the counter-terrorist operation belongs to the Federal Security Service, and this seems somehow more reliable to the Kremlin bosses.
And under martial law, the power belongs to army boots, which – who knows? – will they march on the capital, like the ancient Kornilov or the modern Prigozhin? (August 13, 2024 at 8:05 am).
It seems water objects in the SRG have not yet been the subject of special consideration, although there are a lot of them to talk about.
The sea
It can be seen that the seas systematically did not interest the SRG scribe. Apparently, for the (unknown to us) purpose for which the SRG was formed, the seas were not of interest.
Lakes
Therefore, the lakes were also not of interest to the SRG scribe.
Rivers
A total of 62 rivers are mentioned in the SRG (some several times; the table has 63 lines).
Despite the fact that there are often several settlements mentioned in the SRG placed on the rivers mentioned in the SRG, the rivers are mentioned more as an exception than as a rule.
Pre- and post-positions
Let’s define the following terms:
– river is in pre-position, if it is recorded before the settlement located on it;
– the river is in post-position, if it is recorded after the settlement located on it;
– the river is in a neutral position, if its pre-position or post-position cannot be determined.
For example (425 – 428): "A Yama on Luga [river] and on Sholona [river] Porkhov." Here the Luga river is clearly placed in the post-position, and the Sholona – in the pre-position, and the contrast is specially emphasized.
The complete case table looks like this (60 rows):
Out of 60 considered cases, we have 10 pre-positions, 13 neutral positions and 30 post-positions. Another 7 cases should be considered errors.
Therefore, in doubtful or neutral cases it is not possible to say "the river is indicated before the town (after the town)", because in SRG both this and other phrasing are used. There is no clear regularity in the use of these forms.
