The number of victims of the Rotten Horde rocket attack on Kyiv on December 29, 2023 continues to grow – already about 32 people (January 5, 2024 at 8:02).

There seems to be no doubt that the personal name Utesh / Uteshko and patronymics and toponyms derived from them Uteshkov were widespread among the Kazan and Siberian Tatars, also among the Bashkirs, and to a lesser extent among the Udmurts and Mordvins. Instead, we do not see this name in the Slavic lands and among the Crimean Tatars.

Therefore, I think that "our" Uteshkov Volost (parish) is named after some Tatar Uteshko, and no settlement (much less a town or city) of Uteshkov existed – this name was extracted as a root from the name of the volost.
