In a habitual movement, we divide the historiography of the question into a bibliographic, enthusiastic and critical direction (no one has considered the genealogical books as literary monuments).

For the bibliography the most important is the book by M. E. Bychkova [Bychkova M.E. Pedigree books of the 16th – 17th centuries as a historical source. – Moscow: Nauka, 1975, 215 p.].
