Influence of the disperse system inhomogeneity on its electrical conductivity

Zharkikh N. I.

General theory of the influence of the spatial inhomogeneity of a disperse system on its mean electrical conductivity K1 is developed. It'is found that the estimation of K1 from the mean value of the parameter and from theory, which is based on the assumption of the homogeneity of the suspension, is in the general case biased; this bias is not uniquely related to the parameter distribution scatter. The influence of the spatial inhomogeneity of the volume fraction and of the surface conductivity on K1 is illustrated as exemplified by the high-frequency limit of the electrical conductivity of a concentrated suspension of spherical particles possessing surface conductivity.
