Spasska tower

One of the three Kremlin towers with gates. It was built of brick in 1491 on the place older white stone Frolovskaya tower from 1368. From the field (current Red Square) has little barbacan (zahab), which is visible in the photo. On its leading wall one can see the niche where St.Saviour icon stayed. After this icon the tower from 1658 obtain the name Spassky.
